El Coquí began as a dream to bring a piece of Puerto Rico to our community. What started as a family tradition of baking pan sobao and sharing it with neighbors grew into something much bigger — a bakery that celebrates the flavors of our island and the spirit of our people.

With every loaf and pastry, we carry the same values our abuelos taught us: hard work, love for good food, and always serving others with corazón. Today, El Coquí is more than a bakery — it’s a gathering place, a taste of home, and a reminder that no matter how far you are from la isla, you can always find Puerto Rico in every bite.

Every great bakery has a story, and ours begins with Yazmín Auli, a proud Puerto Rican woman with a vision. Growing up surrounded by the flavors and aromas of traditional panaderías, Yazmín carried with her the warmth of the island and the belief that food is more than nourishment — it’s memory, family, and cultura.

When she arrived in Philadelphia, she noticed something was missing: the authentic taste of Puerto Rico. With determination and corazón, Yazmín set out to change that. What started as a simple dream soon grew into El Coquí, a bakery that blends island tradition with community spirit.

Yazmín’s journey has been one of hard work, sacrifice, and passion. She is not only the founder but the soul of El Coquí — proving that with faith, culture, and perseverance, even a small dream can become an empire.
